Navigating Life by Anointed Moments

When Was The Last Time…you felt a warm tear coursing down your face as you were immersed in worshipful music that drew you deeper and deeper into the very presence of the Living God?

When Was The Last Time… you sensed the presence of the Lord so strong, so close and so personal that all you could do was to take deep breaths?

When Was The Last Time…you were quietly, lovingly and gently corrected by God’s word, convicting your heart, cleansing your soul and making you pure with His forgiving grace?

When Was The Last Time…you experienced the power of God flowing through you to comfort, encourage, heal and speak life to someone in need? (And you knew it wasn’t you…it was God in you.)

When Was The Last Time…your eyes were opened by God’s Spirit to see a glimpse of your destiny…and you could hardly wait to pursue it with all your heart, soul, mind and strength?

These are what I call, “Anointed Moments”…times when the Holy Spirit quickens you from within and makes you so alive in His presence that you never want to leave. These are also what I call, “Navigational Moments”…encounters with God when He resets your spiritual and moral compass to align with His righteous intentions for your life. So, what do you do when this happen? Consider this:

1.    Put in writing the power of the moment that you’re sensing. Don’t let it slip out of your mind. These are eternal moments that must be recorded for now and for the future (Is. 30:8).

2.    Examine Scripture to confirm that your experience is in keeping with God’s character. God never contradicts the revelation of His written word. It’s the standard for measuring all truth (John 17:17).

3.    Verify your experience and what you’re sensing with seasoned eldership. God gives His wisdom to those who are true elders…those who shepherd the flock of God with His care (Heb 13:17).

4.    Re-direct your life according to how the Lord is speaking to you. At times a spiritual encounter can be a warning or a correction. Take heed and you’ll save yourself a lot trouble and a life-time of heartaches (1 Cor. 10:13; Heb. 12:5-13).

5.    Finally, move boldly and confidently knowing the Lord is with you. The Lord knows that you can’t fulfill His assignments without Him. In His amazing love, He graciously goes before you and with you to give you success (Is. 45:2-3; Mark 16:20).

Now, if you can answer the “When was the last time?” questions above, then you’ll recognize that Anointed Moments are Navigational Moments. Don’t rush past these precious times, my friend. They are when God sovereignly steps into your life to commune with you and to guide you into His kind intentions. But…a word of caution: The only thing worse than not receiving direction from the Lord is to be directed and not take heed (2 Pet. 2:21). If you walk away from a true encounter with God and remain unchanged, the Lord may choose to let you just go your own way…without Him! (Ps. 81:11-13)
