Living in the Supernatural...Navigating Life with “God-Synergy”
Thousands being saved; churches overflowing; the sick being healed; the lame walking; powerful leaders converting to Christ; the dead being raised; racial and social barriers torn down; tormented people set free from demonic forces; and the world is “turned upside down!” That’s what living in the supernatural was like for the early church. And that’s the way it’s supposed to be for all believers today.
I call this “God-Synergy”…the Lord actively working with His people to fulfill His purposes on earth through extraordinary acts. Most of us are familiar with synergy. It’s the combined efforts of a group that creates a total effect greater than the sum of the individual efforts. Eccles. 4:9-12 is an excellent example of that. But God-Synergy (sunergeo)is supernatural. It does things that are totally impossible for you, me, or the entire population of the world to do without God’s personal involvement.
Okay, So What Does God-Synergy Do?
1. It brings God’s healing to people who have no hope (Acts 3:1-10).
2. It sets up divine appointments that would normally be impossible (Acts 10:17-22).
3. It brings you into the working of a miracle with God through your prayers (Acts 12:5-12).
4. It stabilizes your life and removes fear in times of trouble. Instead of worrying, you rejoice over what you know God is doing even in the midst of your problems (Acts 27:20-25).
But Why Would God Choose to Work with Me?
1. Very simple…Because you can’t do what God wants you to do without Him (Mark 10:27)!
2. God is giving to you the compassion that He has for hurting people (Matt. 9:35-38).
3. God is training you to represent His cause and to continue His work on earth (John 14:12-21).
4. God is creating supernatural signs that point unbelievers to who He really is (Acts 14:8-17).
How Do I Get God’s Involvement in My life?
1. It begins by entering into God’s Covenant of Salvation through His Son, Jesus. This makes you a partner with Him to accomplish His purposes on earth (2 Chron. 16:9; 2 Cor. 2:14-16).
2. God is not a law of nature or a cosmic genie that fulfills your wishes. He only responds to personal relationships with Him. Ask Him to work in and through you to help others.
3. It’s a daily communion with God…not a one-time urgent request for a display of His power.
4. Don’t ask God to bless your plans and ideas. Find out what He’s wants done and where His heart is, then get involved with what He’s doing in people’s lives and on earth (Luke 4:18-19).
What Should I Do If God Chooses to Work With Me?
1. Remember…it’s NOT about you having power! It’s about God and His love for people. Simon the sorcerer tried to buy God’s power…look what happened to him (Acts 8:18-24)!
2. Don’t look for the praises of the people. Look for God’s approval, regardless of how many people are aware of you. It’s about God influencing people through you…not for you!
“But,” some may say, “I’ve heard that supernatural events ceased after the early church!” Sorry, it’s too late to tell me that! I’ve seen God’s supernatural synergy with my own eyes! I’ve seen Him heal pained bodies, provide finances out of hopelessness, give favor to acquire careers, restore irreconcilable marriages, and reverse the irreversible! I live with His providential power that causes all things to work together (sunergeo) for good (Rom. 8:28). In fact, God’s word even says that YOU are His fellow workers (sunergeo) (1 Cor. 3:9). Living in the supernatural…that’s what God has called you to do!
